actually, hearing this again after a years, i think your "completion" at least to the end of the exposition, WAS BRILLIANT, or at the least very accomplished the theme was not inane, just inordinately LONG and the joke was in the LENGTH not the quality of the theme as a former double bass player trained in baroque continuo playing alongside orchestral work , and as a holder of a bachelors degree in composition - which included fugue - I think this theme had all the elements of a baroque fugal subject, even more than could fit into a one or two bar snatch which is the standard fugue subject. I would like to see this fugue worked out to the fullest extent, even if it is a vast juggernaut of nearly half and hour but alas it can't be done by me. my morale as a composer is utterly shattered and i have not put pen to music paper in 20 years

The only thing that i think would be different in a real handel aria is that it would start and end on the same chord (i can think of exactly one aria of his that doesn't do this and it's "shy do the nations so furiously rage" but let me know if there are more because i could be totally wrong)

I'm assuming you've heard that one Mozart fugue he wrote allegedly after encountering a copy of Bach's best counterpoint in a church somewhere?
